What's the single most important thing you need while traveling? Okay, so the second thing... wherever it falls on your list, you need comfortable shoes! That's why on our stop through Prague, we reached out to our friends at Footshop.cz to help us find something for our next big adventure in SE Asia.
Peter Kovkou is Footshop's leading sneaker expert. So much so that he has an entire blog about sneakers! Now that's what we like to call a #sneakerhead! It's thanks to Peter's advice and expertise and my excellent taste that I came to choose this gorgeous red kicks for our big trip to Asia:
Marina's choice: Nike Air Max 1 Ultra Moire University
Red/University Red, Wmns.
After a thorough search through the entire collection of Nike shoes, my instinct picked out these pretty babies. Originally looking for black shoes, I decided to go red so as to match the oncoming Chinese New Year holiday as well as add an extra spring to my step each time I look down (which I'm finding out, is quite often since I'm afraid of crowds!).
What I love about my new Nikes is that seamless perforated upper shoe and the super lightweight feeling of wearing them all day. I usually need to wear insoles for arch support, but these particular shoes allow me to ditch the orthopedics appointment and run free without any worry. If I were into jogging, I'd definitely take these babies for a spin.
What I don't love about these shoes is that although they are perforated and probably perfect for a hot climate anywhere else, they're just not made for the humidity of SE Asia. For the first few days my feet were so sweaty that I had to take the shoes off at every given chance (at restaurants, Starbucks, street benches) just to avoid them getting super smelly.
Thankfully, I figured out a way to stop that from happening now, but in any case, I recommend these shoes to anybody looking for a lightweight and breathable shoe in a fun color selection. Don't be afraid of color! They actually look great with all sorts of looks, including earth tones, neons, even wild prints. Buy them here.
Looking for a more breathable shoe? Tomy's choice is all about the "no socks" style. Make sure to subscribe to see his sneakers as soon as we post them :)
